Conditional scenarios, not price guarantees
Which numbers qualify as a forecast
24/7 Wall St. reported Standard Chartered analyst Geoffrey Kendrick’s revised XRP path in March 2026. We could not inspect the revised bank note itself; these are attributed media reports, not figures independently verified against that note. The Block directly reported on the bank’s earlier, different April 2025 outlook. Keep the original and revised editions separate.
The earlier bank outlook, the later reported revision and 21Shares’ possible 2026 highs have different dates and horizons. None should be presented as confirmation of another.
2027–2030: prices and conditions
The reported revised bank year-end targets are $7.00 in 2027, $12.60 in 2028, $19.60 in 2029 and $28.00 in 2030; the 2026 checkpoint is $2.80. Finder’s June 2025 survey of 17 specialists separately puts the 2030 year-end average at $5.25. The studies were published at different times and use different methods; neither guarantees a future price. The Finder report was updated on July 16, 2025.
Check each year against December 31 pricing, XRP-specific settlement demand, circulating supply and competition. The 21Shares $1.60 / $2.45 / $2.69 scenarios describe possible highs during 2026, not year-end targets. At $28, 100 billion originally created XRP would imply roughly $2.8 trillion of fully diluted value before burns; current market capitalisation instead uses circulating supply.
The 21Shares 2026 scenarios in context
The January report describes potential peak levels reached at some time during 2026: bear $1.60, base $2.45 and bull $2.69. It ties them to capital flows, regulation and growth of tokenised activity. The source lists 50%, 30% and −16% beside those scenarios without clearly defining a common basis. We do not interpret them as validated probabilities or returns from one shared starting price.
The gap between $2.45 and $2.69 is small compared with crypto volatility. The issuer’s examples are conditional, dated and already subject to revision. They cannot be described as targets at the end of 2026, as a bank’s view of 2030, or as an independent target for each intervening year.
What changed by the August 2026 study
21Shares later estimated that XRP Ledger activity settled $159.9 billion during H1 2026, while the revenue categories it tracked dropped 81.6% year over year from $6.43 million to $1.18 million. Its research says only 10.6% of that revenue reached holders indirectly through XRP burn; the rest includes swap pool fees and NFT royalties paid to other parties.
These are the analyst’s metrics and categories, not cash dividends received by each XRP holder. The research also notes that issuing tokenised assets on XRPL or growing the RLUSD stablecoin does not automatically create material demand for XRP: settlement or collateral can use other assets. A large payment total by itself does not validate the January price scenarios.
Fixed creation does not mean fixed circulating supply
The XRP Ledger states that the original 100 billion XRP were created at launch and no more can be minted. Part is held in Ripple escrows, and unlocks or renewed locks change the amount available to markets without creating new tokens. Grayscale reported approximately 61.8 billion outstanding as of May 2026; that is an observation with a date, not a 2030 supply projection.
XRPL destroys a small XRP transaction cost when a transaction enters a validated ledger. Burning fees reduces total supply but does not guarantee a net fall in circulating supply. In its H1 2026 analysis, 21Shares estimated circulation grew about 5.5% year on year through releases and re-locks. A later valuation should state which supply concept it uses.
XRPL adoption and XRP value are different links
XRP is the ledger’s native asset and pays network transaction costs. However, an institution may issue a dollar stablecoin, send a tokenised bond or settle a transfer on XRPL while avoiding material exposure to XRP price. Even genuine infrastructure adoption can therefore coexist with weak token demand.
The stronger case would show sustained, measurable demand for holding XRP itself, such as its use as a liquidity bridge or accepted collateral, after accounting for escrow supply and alternative rails. 21Shares explicitly identifies institutional XRP collateral demand as a missing catalyst in August 2026. A partnership announcement is not proof that this catalyst occurred.
A second institutional perspective
Grayscale’s July 9, 2026 digital-currency primer classifies XRP as a possible satellite holding and describes its payment use case alongside competition from stablecoins. It does not publish a 2027–2030 price target. Its classification is useful context for risk and portfolio role, not an independent confirmation of the 21Shares price figures.
Different issuers may benefit commercially from exposure products: 21Shares sells crypto investment products and Grayscale publishes investment research. Their observations can be tested against ledger fees, publicly disclosed product flows and token supply. Never add the research issuers’ opinions together to manufacture a consensus forecast.
Risks and conditions that would invalidate the thesis
If ETP flows reverse, escrow distribution outpaces durable demand, stablecoins capture settlement activity or tokenisation remains small, the optimistic case weakens. Changes in market liquidity, custody, regulation and competition can dominate a technically functioning ledger. A decline can occur even if transaction counts rise.
The opposite observation would be sustained net demand for XRP itself alongside genuine payments and collateral use, with transparent supply accounting. Neither side can be inferred from headline transfer volumes alone. XRP market price also reacts to broad crypto cycles, so a correct technology thesis does not fix the timing or the level of a future trade.
How to check these claims later
Keep the January 2026 scenario document as a dated record of possible in-year peaks. Compare it with an intrayear price series for that year; do not score it using only the December close. Treat the August 2026 network figures as separate observed inputs, not as a replacement price forecast.
For any later 2027–2030 target, save the original issuer document, publication date, output definition, horizon, supply assumption and any revision. At each annual review, record XRP-specific usage, fees burned, circulating supply and the price source. A temporary price touch must never validate an unrelated year-end model.

Key conclusion
The reported $28 target for 2030 and Finder’s $5.25 survey average are distinct opinions. Any case for a higher XRP price still depends on demand for the token itself, not simply on use of XRPL.
Risk note
XRP can lose substantial value even when the ledger grows. 21Shares and Grayscale have commercial interests in crypto products. Historical network metrics and conditional scenarios provide no investment recommendation.
